Vince Parrell’s Dance Centre (VPDC) began operation in the fall of 1982 at the corner of Queen and Wineva in the Beaches area of Toronto. My goal was to establish a professional dance training centre for children and adults in all forms of Musical Theatre related dance.

Studio enrollment grew rapidly and in 1985 I moved to our present location on Main Street just south of Danforth Ave.

From the very beginning I wanted to establish a strong technical foundation for my students and chose the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) method of Ballet. Performance has also been one of my goals in the development of new dancers. Strong technique has always been important for the foundation of a professional dancer, but, we also believe at VPDC that “entertainment” is what performance is all about.

Classes are offered in Theatrical and Street styles Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Hip Hop, Modern, Acro, and Musical Theatre.

VPDC also has a “Competition Company Program” which gives students more intensive training and more performance opportunities.

Currently, VPDC has over 400 students, a total of 7 teachers and 3 support staff. From a one room studio on Queen St. in 1982, VPDC has grown to an 8,000 square foot dance complex of three large dance studios, fully equipped with top of the line sound systems, mirrors, ballet bars, air conditioning and skylights in the main studio. There is a large reception/waiting area, change room, and a student lunch/study room that includes a drink machine.

VPDC students have been accepted to Performance High Schools and Universities in both Canada and the United States and I am very proud to say that we have a number of former students working professionally as dancers, teachers and Musical Theatre performers.
